Looks like time for a "collabeditor.com test ting". We'll do that on **Sunday 2008-06-15 18:00 UTC**
(20:00 CEST, 11:00 in Seattle)
Intention behind this thing is to get a feel if collabedit can be used for things like gobby can.
Try out collabedit with different browsers, please.
* How does the delay of collabedit behave with more users in the ting?
Tings are generally open topic but you can propose topics.
Maybe the participants like to collaboratively write about the topic? Maybe not. You'll see.
topic proposals:
* integration of wiki, twitter and collab-editor
participants (intended):
* ma: MattisManzel, http://www.communitywiki.org/odd/MattisManzel/FrontPage
* xm: XavierMaillard, http://www.community.org/XavierMaillard
The contents of the ting will be copied to
xm: http://www.communitywiki.org/odd/CollabEditor/Archive_2008-06-15_Ting
shortly after it has ended. Tings are open end.
But it's still possible to edit it ? again a WikiStacking approach
ma: It makes sense to start with a leading name sign btw.
Especially as collabedit has no background color for text to mark the author
as gobby and moonedit have.
There is no automatic linebreak either, this will become chaotic I fear. Let's see.
xm: please can you explain what is the goal of this test-ting ?
I am test-ting using my Nokian N810 tablet and it looks horrid here.
ma: get a feel how browserbased collabedit is.
I know gobby and moonedit.
xm: I will try gobby to see what it does :)
ma: TheSheep has a standalone server for gobby, we used it some times. Gobby is cool, just the
mac install deseaster. The cursor in collabedit is hardly visible.
xm: Yes I do not see it. Maybe we can change the style of the document (or page) ?
ma: No idea if one can. On gobby you can correct typos right behind the cursor of someone.
I like that. Gobby is very direct. I wonder how it is here with more participants. Does the
delay get bigger?
Aha: connection error on top in red, connection restored 2 seconds later in green.
ml: looks cool
xm: I am not convinced by this website. It does not seem to be "real time" here. We are only
ma: true, not really real time. Find your invisible cursor is the game :) No client to install
and works on all OS's is tempting though. There is another attempt like this, from earlier before:
syncroedit.

Iob
xm: We need discipline to collaborate here :) I typed several sentences and they all have
been overloaded ;)
ma: sorry, that's part of the test, didn't do anything on purpose. Maybe my stupid tab-pad
again? Such is frustrating. Diabled touchpad, can't happen again (if it was that).
In a way one should be able to turn twits and anwers to twits seamlessly into a collab-editor
session (ting). Which seamlessly turns into a wiki-page.
Who's ml? Hi ml.
